With the dream of practice, expansion and preservation of rich culture of Bangladesh, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Established Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (National Academy of Fine and Performing Art) on 4th July 1974.
Rising of anti-liberation war power after the assassination of Bangabandhu, activities of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy were stumbled.
Fortunately in recent years Shilpakala Academy with its innovative events and colorful programs is on the way to fulfill the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In present Shilpakala Academy spread out its activities all over the country. It has brought the revolution of culture.
Expansion of cultural practice, Establishment of 486 Upazila shilpakala Academy , preservation of folk culture, ensuring culture for all, introducing Bangladeshi culture to the international world and finally organizing the liberation war based cultural events Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is contributing a lot.
Now Bangladesh shilpakala Academy is the holy land of culture, center point of all cultural personalities, artists and people. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy now acts as a mirror of Bangladesh. That’s why this institution is our pride and light house of spirit.
Liaquat Ali Lucky
Director General is the chief of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Present Director General is Liaquat Ali Lucky, a prominent cultural personality of Bangladesh. He is a freedom fighter also. Liaquat Ali Lucky, son of Shikh sadek Ali and Mazeda Begum was born on 13 January 1957 at Nawabgang, Dhaka. He completed his graduation and post graduation from the Dept. English Literature of Dhaka University. He is an actor, director, singer, composer and a good organizer also. He has acted in 57 drama and directed 78 drama. He wrote 8 playwright also. He got the honor of “Artistic Excellence for children and youth theater” by Assitej , “Honorary cultural emong of Japan” from the Governor of Twaiama in Japan, “Dhaka University Gold Medal” in 1984 and “Samalaya Award” of Kolkata as the best children organizer. of Peoples Theatre Association and one of the founder and present vice president of Combined Cultural Alliance (Shommilito Shangskritik Jot) and president of Asian Regional committee of International Amateur Theatre Association. He was the elected cultural secretary of DUCSU. He is the only man whose directed stage drama “Kanjush” has been staged 642 times in Bangladesh and abroad. Under his leadership Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has gained tremendous success in its works.
Bangladesh is a land of creation. Here song, poem, dance or drama come from our soul, come from our soil. Jari, Sari, Bhatiali, Bhawaiya, Palagan, Kobigan, Jatra, Potgan, Puppet, Drama, Dance, Recitation, Artwork, Sculpture , Film, Handicraft and Literature are the symbols of our beautiful creation.
